Heavy equipment, lighting, and safety and ventilation are some of key items which needs power in Mining areas. More often, mines are located in very remote areas with either no or unreliable grid power; and therefore they depend on diesel generators which are noisy and produce emissions, with their higher fuel and maintenance costs. These generators may be hybridized with Solar PV to greatly reduce electricity generation expenses, reduce greenhouse gas emissions as well as reducing or eliminating operation delays due to power outages.
